The UVA Health System is excited to announce the appointment of Tracy M. Downs, MD, as its Chief Diversity and Engagement Officer. Dr. Downs comes from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health as the as the Associate Dean for Diversity and Multicultural Affairs and Professor of Urologic Oncology. Downs will work in both the Health System and in the local Charlottesville community to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. Within UVA Health, he will ensure the above in both the training and working environments. Within the Charlottesville community, he will work to minimize disparities in healthcare by assessing the social impacts on health in under-privileged communities.
